About AFSU
Our History
Since our establishment in 2019, AFSU (Australian Fashion Start Up) has been dedicated to sharing knowledge of the fashion industry in the form of education to students from all over the country. We started running small group in person workshops and have grown to now offer a range of goods and services. We are focused on remaining true to our core belief of providing high quality fashion education to everyday people.
Our Community
We are not just an educational platform to teach you skills, we are a community too. The fashion industry is a tight knit community and we encourage others to join through networking events, by sharing award opportunities, industry events, employment opportunities, connections and current trends to keep you in the know.
Our Founder
Katherine Golchert is a fashion industry professional, having worked in the industry since 2001. Katherine has worked across all facets of the industry as a Garment Technician, Product Developer, Brand and Production Manager. In 2024 Katherine made the transition from Full Time Production management to Part-time Teacher at TAFE NSW.
As a true advocate for creating high quality, sustainable products Katherine is passing on her knowledge and skills through training the next generation of students while connecting them with vital industry contacts.
Katherine is also an award winning fibre artists and small business owner with her own brand 'Katherine the Creator'.
